Making bibimbap

Bean sprouts

Put a few table spoons of water in a pan with a little salt, bring to a boil and steam the bean sprout for about 5 minutes. Sprinkle with with a teaspoon of seasame and a teaspoon of dark soya sauce and some spring onion

 Spinach

About 2 hand full of spinach quickly boiled in water for 1 min. Strain and sqeeze the water out in your hands.  Place in a bowl and drizzle with some seasame oil and some toasted seasame seeds and mix.

Onions

Lightly fried sliced onion till golden brown.

Carrots and courgettes

Simlar method to spinach but with courgettes and carrots

Some korean chili sauce

Sliced beef marinated in some brown sugar, soya sauce and some sesame oil. Then lightly fried

Traditionally made in a very hot dolsot – a stone pot. Instead I used a cast iron pot. Put some cooked rice at the bottom and placed all the prepared ingredience on top.

Placed a half fried egg on top and drizzle with chilli sauce. Mix it up to get a tasty rice dish. Great theatre if ordering it at a restaurant.

Super yum. This dish does take a bit of preperation but it is definately worth the effort.  You can be imagainative with the toppings and create your own version of a bibimbap.
